The Local Islands are the closest divesites to Ao Nang and you can be back from a daytrip before 2 in the afternoon, so you still have half of your day left. The visibility on the local islands is usual between 5 and 15m. and they are most valued for the many sightings of seahorses, nudibranches and other macro marine life. They act as a nursery for the Andaman Sea and you can find juvenile fish of all species, including sharks. Caves and swimthroughs are a plenty around here.
The Phi Phi Islands are among the most famous dive areas in Thailand and for a good reason. There are many divesites around the islands and all have their own characteristics. Deep walls, shallow reef gardens and everything in between are among them. Some are well known for the many blacktip reef sharks while others seem to attract lots of turtles. And between the colorful corals many fish and other marine animals find their homes. Visibility is usually 15m. up. We do 2 or 3 dives on a daytrip, the choice is up to you.
